Listen to the voices of the cotton factors and merchants of Front Street, mill workers and ginners, the porters who worked in the classing rooms on Cotton Row, and cotton farmers and sharecroppers from throughout the Delta. Through our ongoing Oral History Project, the museum continues to capture these voices on videotape and preserve them for posterity—so we can share the unique stories of people who have inhabited the world of cotton.
We want to hear from you.
Important elements of the cotton story and its culture live only in the memory of people who are now into middle age or beyond, so the time to gather these stories is now. If you or anyone you know would like to participate in the Oral History Project by sharing a personal story, please contact the museum at 901.531.7826.
